LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
In 2004, there were few adult soccer leagues in DC. That spring, District Sports launched its first competition with 6 teams at Walter Pierce Park in Adams Morgan. The goal then as it is now was to create positive recreational sports experiences here in the District.
Fast forward 20 years, District Sports is now active at over 20 sites in our city serving upwards of 400 teams and 4,000 players per season – making us one of the largest adult soccer organizations in the country.
Over the past 20 years, our organization has built a platform for community building, social impact and goodwill. We’re proud to have served hundreds of thousands of played and raised well over a million dollars to support our various charitable partners. District Sports is not just a soccer league but a local institution with deep roots and ambitions.
As we begin this anniversary celebration, I’d like to acknowledge the impact of our founder Casey Calister who sadly passed away last year. His efforts were absolutely immense, opening the door to what has followed. We are all better for his contribution.
We hope you will join us throughout 2024 in celebrating our 20th birthday. We’re proud of the milestone and look forward to growing our legacy into the future. District Sport is community – see you out there!
